AERLIN GmbH Successfully Closes Seed Financing Round

[introduction]

Berlin, September 9, 2026 – Berlin-based aviation startup AERLIN GmbH has successfully closed its seed financing round. New shareholders include Hamburg-based eFUEL GROUP, IBB Ventures from Berlin, renowned private investors, and members of the Business Angel Club Berlin-Brandenburg. Entrepreneur and startup expert Holger G. Weiss has been appointed Chairman of the Advisory Board of AERLIN GmbH.

The fresh capital will enable AERLIN to further advance the development of its first production product and build a prototype. The initial plan is for a two-seat sport aircraft in the ultralight category, with a wingspan of approximately 12 meters. In addition to private sport pilots, the aircraft is aimed particularly at flight schools and air sports clubs.

A New Aircraft Concept

At the heart of the development is the consistent implementation of the flying-wing concept, in which the wing and fuselage merge into a single aerodynamic unit. Compared with conventional aircraft configurations, this approach has the potential to reduce aerodynamic drag and create a new opportunity to lower the energy required for flight.

AERLIN is therefore pursuing an approach that not only aims to improve the aircraft’s aerodynamic efficiency, but also to open up new perspectives for the use of alternative energy sources in aviation. Its collaboration with eFUEL GROUP links aircraft development with the potential of synthetic fuels.

Successfully completing our seed financing round marks an important milestone for AERLIN. We are delighted to have visionary, long-term-oriented partners at our side in our investors who share our conviction that aviation can be fundamentally more efficient and produce fewer emissions,” says Dr. Alexander Erdmann, Managing Director of AERLIN GmbH.

eFUEL GROUP is much more than a strong financing partner for us as lead investor. With its strategic focus on eFuels and Sustainable Aviation Fuels, it is an ideal partner for our vision of a defossilized aviation sector. The fact that we have also been able to win IBB Ventures and experienced private investors—including members of the Business Angel Club Berlin-Brandenburg—to support our approach further validates our technological and strategic direction.

The financing enables us to continue advancing the development and construction of our first crewed aircraft. With our flying-wing architecture, we aim to make a contribution toward fundamentally improving the efficiency of future aircraft.”

As eFUEL GROUP, we are looking forward to working with AERLIN and jointly exploring new perspectives for the aviation of tomorrow. Strong partnerships are key to bringing innovations into practical application more quickly and advancing the defossilization of air transport step by step. Together, we want to further develop industrial and technological solutions that still present significant challenges today,” says Dirk Wullenweber, CIO of eFUEL GROUP.

Stephan Schulze, Investment Director at IBB Ventures, adds: “We were inspired by the vision of low-emission flight, impressed by the team’s expertise and experience, and convinced by its structured approach, including initial validation with a flight-capable model. We are delighted to contribute to this outstanding development project and, in doing so, to build on Berlin’s great aviation heritage.
